Before we left Madrid, we took in a flamingo show and of course ate and drank more excellent food and wine.

She was amazing, an incredible athlete.
I also discovered a drink that they served to tourists. It’s lemon-lime sprite and a 1/4 cup of red wine. It was very sweet but I think the tourists liked it as it was a hot day. It is not on my favorites list.
Our first stop going North was Segovia which has an intact 1st Century aqueduct. It was in operation up until the 1970. The aqueduct brought water from mountain springs 11 miles away. Most of the structure is precisely assembled without mortar. An incredible feat of engineering and construction.

There is also a cathedral in town. I couldn’t get the entire building in the frame.

Big place but the upkeep will kill you.
We stopped for the night in Burgos. The hotel was nice but as there is little to no street parking so we had to use the hotel underground lot. We rented a Tesla (the small one) and going down the spiral drive, we only had inches to spare on either side of the car. If you’ve ever been in a Tesla you the display has all sorts of warning indicators – those warning lights and bells were going off like a fire drill.
Before I forget, we were coming back from dinner in Paris and Annie took a picture or how the Parisienne’s mass produce their baguettes. It was 11pm the back door was open and we talked to Oli (not sure how to spell it). He had just finished his first proof. He proofs them inside those little towels and uses a wooded peel to put them on the racks. They would be baked between 1 and 4am and then delivers to local restaurants (that don’t make their own). We need to stand up and demand better quality bread! 😀
